Robert McNamara dead at 93:
Robert Strange McNamara (June 9, 1916 July 6,
2009) served as Defense Secretary for Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon
B. Johnson from 1961 to 1968. He is considered the primary architect of the
Vietnam War.
Please remember that between January 21 and April 8, 1968 The Battle of
Khe Sanh took place. It took 41 one years for it to be mentioned with
the respect that it has deserved. This came in President Obama inaugural
address.
Please read (and listen to) The Khe Sanh
Address (including audio of the author reading the address)
A veteran, whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve,
is someone who, at one point in his or her life, wrote a blank check made
payable to "The United States of America" for an amount of "up to and including
my life."
That is Honor, and there are way too many people in this country who no longer
understand it.

Born and raised in New Paltz, NY,
Larry Winters entered the United States Marine Corps after high
school and served in Vietnam 1969-1970. Twenty-five years later, by then
a licensed mental health counselor at Four Winds Hospital in Katonah, NY,
the veteran returned to Vietnam with other heath care professionals to study
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) in the Vietnamese people and to make
peace with his past. Larry is a widely published poet, men's group leader
and group psychotherapist.
He has published his book titled "The Making and Un-making of a
Marine".
Special Announcements:
Larry Winters has recently won favorable support from the Montrose
Veterans Affairs Hospital in Peekskill, N.Y. After speaking at the hospital
on two separate occasions where he addressed the staff, veterans, and the
community on issues such as PTSD and the role of society in its healing,
Larry was approached by a senior administrator and sold 80 books to the VA
for their staff. He remains deeply appreciative that the VA holds strong
interest in the voice of a veteran who's been on both sides of war, both
as a soldier and a healer. Stay tuned to Larry's homepage for more announcements
as he continues to garner support from the VA. You can help share his story
by contacting your local VA hospital at
www.va.gov and ask them
to carry The Making and Un-Making of a Marine
for their staff and the veterans they care for.
